New Masterclass: Opportunities for Delivering Custom & Self build Housing on Small Sites

06 January 2025

30th January 2025 12.30pm-2pm

The Task Force has previously considered larger scale percentage site policy and delivery.

However, this masterclass focuses on the other end of the spectrum.

We look at the evidence our research has found quantifying the potential for small sites. We will also consider how the new NPPF makes reference to small sites and discuss the opportunities this presents with specific reference in section 5 ‘Delivering a sufficient supply of homes’, paragraphs 63 and 71, and ‘Identifying land for homes’, paragraph 73 and 73b which advocates that ‘Small and medium sized sites can make an important contribution to housing supply and to supporting small SME builders’.

We will be exploring how policy and decisions can bring forward custom and self build housing and seek to explain how small sites can help deliver on your LPA self build register numbers and help speed up delivery in rural, fringe and urban settings.

Through the use of case studies, we will explain and demonstrate good practise and seek to provide guidance for those grappling with these issues.
