As pipelines expand due to Custom and Self-Build policies and planning applications are submitted, we focus on ensuring that multi-plot custom and self-build housing meets policy requirements.
We will be discussing the issues that need to be considered from an LPA perspective, from early engagement through to implementation, looking at the key factors that we need to get right to make the journey as smooth as possible and the outcomes effective so that custom and self build homes are delivered.
The masterclass will feature insights from a dedicated self-build officer, a pivotal figure in coordinating the process, alongside an experienced development management officer who collaborates closely to facilitate custom and self-build housing. They will discuss their approach, key outcomes, and lessons learned. Additionally, another self-build officer will share experiences in advancing schemes and working with enablers in an urban setting. Finally, we will present an enabler/developer perspective, exploring their engagement in the process and the challenges they face.
While this masterclass focuses on the LPA’s role in development, it also incorporates the enabler’s perspective, emphasizing the need for a holistic understanding to ensure timely and effective delivery. Case studies will illustrate key issues and demonstrate successful outcomes.
