The Right to Build Task Force is committed to supporting local authority skills around the delivery of Custom and Self Build Local. As part of this on the 14 October it ran a Design Codes and Plot Passports Masterclass.
The event had 76 planners and other stakeholders attend to gain more in-depth understanding of the role and application of Design Codes and Plot Passports in relation to self and custom build.
As with our previous Masterclass on Local Plan Writing for Custom and Self Build we are sharing the answers to the questions that came up at the event, which we hope you will find of use. Unfortunately the recording and slides are not available for sharing.
The Masterclass was delivered by Right to Build Task Force Expert Honoré van Rijswijk, who is, as are all Task Force experts, available for advice on a consultancy basis. Find out more about securing the Task Force's service here, or get in touch with Anne on Taskforce@righttobuild.org.uk
Since 2012 the NPPF has carried a requirement to plan for people wishing to commission their own homes. Councils now include policies in sound local plans to support delivery, and Design Codes and Plot Passports are core tools to frame delivery, whether they are created by the local authority or as part of planning applications.
