The Task Force has published its latest case study examining Charfield Gardens, a custom build site made up of six self-build serviced plots.
These plots are a direct result of South Gloucestershire Council’s percentage policy to support the delivery of custom and self-build (CSB) and represent the first homes delivered because of the policy.
South Gloucestershire has an innovative approach to facilitating custom and self build and meeting the needs of its register, with a self build officer in post and a unique Self Build Partnership for custom build enablers and developers, and a portal webpage for those on the register.
The case study is a fascinating insight into the journey of the individual self build plots from planning, as part of a larger 121 home Barratts site, including the learnings that have been embedded in it on the journey.
