The Right to Build Task Force is pleased to announce an updated version of its Masterclass on Custom and Self Build Appeals, including appeals from the last 12 months.
Running on 25 October on Zoom (12:30-14:00) this Masterclass always sells out as it is so impactful in terms of your practice.
While focused on local authority planners, the masterclass is of particular relevance to land promoters, enablers and developers working to deliver custom and self build locally.
The session reviews some of the significant planning appeals for custom and self build development, sharing the decisions, the issues they raise and precedents they set for future applications.
Many of the appeals draw on the duties set out by the Right to Build legislation that requires local authorities to maintain registers of those wishing to build in the area, and have consideration for this evidence of demand.
Other points of reference will be the national guidance's recommendation for wider demand basis to be considered, and the weight given to a range of factors.
This is a core masterclass for all planners working to expand their knowledge, as the inspectors' rulings affect future applications.
The session will be introduced by Bryony Harrington, Head of the Task Force, and delivered by Task Force experts Arron Beecham and Mary Elkington
